An ANZAC day service was held today in Wiltshire to commemorate the sacrifice made by the Australian Imperial Forces and remember their presence here in the County. The occasion also marked the formal opening of the restored chalk map of Australia. Guests included Mrs Sarah Troughton, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire and Mr Matt Anderson, the Deputy Australian High Commissioner, Colonel Andrew Dawes, Commander South West and Lieutenant Colonel Ben Passmore, Australian Army UK Liaison Officer. We are also immensely privileged to be joined by Mrs Jill Young Who travelled from Australia to lay a wreath in memory of her father Albert Haslet, a Bombardier with the 12th Artillery Brigade, AIF, stayed at Hurdcott Camp between April and June 1918 recovering from wounds.
